Cartoon Movie 2013: European animation film at the top
Packed rooms, quality and emotion were the key words of this 15th Cartoon Movie where more than 700 animation professionals discovered 56 film projects.
Gathering from 250 to 350 persons in the rooms, the pitching sessions got a full house. “Louise in the Winter” leads the list of the 15 most-attended pitches, followed by “MUSIC!”; “Rise of the Zelphire”; “Beyond Beyond”; “The Island of Lost Children”; “CAFARD”; “My Mommy is in America and She Met Buffalo Bill”; “The Prince and the Demon-Kings”; “Capture the Flag”; “Loulou’s Secret”; “Pinocchio”; “Christmas in Pinchcliffe”; “Oggy and the Cockroaches”; “Little Princess”; and “ALPHA”.
The 22 projects in concept, pitched in grouped sessions, also aroused astrong interest amongst potential business partners and buyers.
As animated film continues to gain force all over the world, the 15th Cartoon Movie received a record 120 distributors from Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia, up 20% from last year. The fact is that recent European animation films have drawn a significant number of viewers into the theatres, despite the rough competition.
