The Cartoon d'Or Award steps aside for the Emile Awards

As you know Cartoon created the CARTOON D’OR Award in 1991 to promote the best European animated short films and because there was no European award for this category during all those years…

Times are changing. You have been informed that a new Association called “European Animation Awards” (EAA) driven by Didier Brunner, Jean-Paul Commin, Peter Lord and some other European professionals has decided to create this year a new Awards Ceremony: the “Emile Awards”. They will be held on Friday 8th December 2017 in Lille to reward the skills of European professionals in animation in different categories (not only for the short films).

Cartoon has supported this initiative from the beginning and is very happy that the first Emile Awards will be held by the end of this year.

For this important reason, Cartoon has decided to suppress the Cartoon d’Or Award. Indeed there would be no sense in having 2 different European Awards for the best animated short film and it is better to group all the European awards during one same evening.

So, long live the Emile Awards!

It has been a real pleasure and a great honour to have created and organized the Cartoon d’Or during 25 years. We are so proud to have rewarded so many great artists and talents such as Nick Park, Mark Baker, Michaël Dudok de Wit, Sylvain Chomet, Jacques-Rémy Girerd, Joanna Quinn, Benjamin Renner, Stéphane Aubier, Vincent Patar, and many many others…

Be numerous in Lille for these important European Animation Awards!
